1 POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Account ing Intern Hours: Full Time Temporary (90 days) Reports To: SVP Finance and Accounting Manager FLSA Status: Non -Exempt Department: Accounting - Downtown Tacoma SALARY RANGE The hourly range for this role is $ 18.00 - $22.00 and the pay rate for the successful applicant will be determined based on a variety of non -discriminatory factors which may include, but is not limited to, job -related knowledge, skills, location, and experience. Specific roles may be eligible for perform ance -based incentive compensation, bonus, and/or equity awards. POSITION SUMMARY The Account ing Intern' s role is focused on professional growth by provid ing hands -on experience , blending foundational tasks with progressive learning opportunities. This position transitions a student from academic theory to real -world corporate finance through active mentorship and skill rotation . The Accounting Intern will p erform a wide variety of accounting function s, including accounts payable, fixed assets, daily cash reconciliations, month -end reconciliations, and financial reporting while being supported by the team of professionals . ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures as well as state and federal banking regulations . • Perform all duties in a manner consistent with proper internal controls, company policy, GAAP, professional accounting standards, and applicable regulation and tax law. • Assist with entering invoices, expense reports, and journal entries . • Participate in month end closing tasks, such as preparing fixed assets, prepaids and accruals. • Assist with reconcil ing bank statements and ledger accounts. • Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports. • Assist with special projects assigned by SVP Finance and Accounting Manager . • Ensure appropriate documentation and recordkeeping is neat and orderly for all assigned areas . • Perform other duties as assigned . REQUIRED SKILLS • Basic k nowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. • Strong ability to practice confidentiality and highly ethical behavior . • Demonstrates basic Microsoft Excel skills with experience in Microsoft Word and Outlook. • Strong organizational, analytical , reasoning, and critical thinking skills. • Comfortable with multi -tasking in a fast paced, time sensitive environment. • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner , written and verbally . • Positive personality driven by self -motivation and strives for operational excellence. • Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environment. 2 • Treats people with respect; works ethically and with integrity; accepts responsibility for own actions. • Ambition to learn, develop and receive constructive feedback. WORK ENVIRONMENT • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time . • Must be able to effectively communicate and exchange accurate information . • Must be able to work in a cubicle/branch environment with moderate noise levels and frequent employee/customer contacts and interruptions during the day . QUALIFICATIONS • Recent graduate or c urrent enrollment in Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Accounting or Finance • Completion of introductory financial and managerial accounting coursework with satisfactory results. • Prior exposure to accounting or core system software , preferred .
