Purpose of Your Work:
As an Accounting Manager working within Redwood Logistics (a parent company for several operating entities),you will be responsible for leading a team of accounting professionals, executing assigned accounting activities, while representing the interests of Redwood Logistics and protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential. You will ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures along with company policy. You will support the growth strategy through company policies, quickly adapting to internal policy changes in response to business demands.
How You Make a Difference Everyday:
- Assist accounting team in month-end close journal entries and reconciliations of any assigned balance sheet account
- Participate in annual audits and tax reporting by providing documentation and reconciliation to public accounting teams.
- Assist Financial Planning and Analysis team in preparing budget and forecasts.
- Maintain accurate accounting records for Redwoods Mexico Logistics team.
- Record monthly payroll expense and assist with payroll processing, including the 401k audit
- Apply strong Excel skills to organize and manipulate large data sets for reconciliations and analysis of brokerage reporting
- Actively analyze reporting discrepancies caused by potential operational/IT errors and manage the solution execution
- Interpret unique customer contracts and apply the appropriate accounting treatment including implementation and maintaining of ASC 606, 842 and 360.
- Quickly gain expertise in our proprietary subsystems and understand their role in the full accounting cycle
- Assess current accounting processes and execute improvements/automations to increase efficiencies
- Communicate with and assist business unit leaders and presidents with their operational objectives and ad-hoc needs
- Research questions from internal/external customer inquiries in respect to monthly performance of all business units
- Supervise and train direct reports
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet future business needs
You’ve Got This?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting
- High level Excel comfort required
- Experience with large public company, including being involved in implementing and maintaining accounting controls preferred
- Experience within public accounting sector preferred
- Knowledge of financial reporting standards US GAPP, financial reporting controls and process improvement
- Experience using NetSuite, Great Planes Microsoft Dynamics or other large ERP
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
- Previous experience in leadership or management
- Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology systems to optimize accounting and reporting processes

Work Schedule:
This position is full-time/exempt with a hybrid requirement to be onsite in our Chicago office at least once per week.
Compensation Range:
Estimated Salary Range:
$90,000 - $110,000
This position is eligible to earn annual incentives based on individual and company performance. The estimated pay range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the geographical location in which the applicant lives and/or which they will be performing the job.
