Position Title: Accounting Manager

Purpose of Role

A publicly traded company is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its team. This position will collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders, play a key role in managing month-end and quarter-end close processes, and assist in developing new or refining existing processes while ensuring adherence to accounting policies and controls.

Job Description
  • Assist in managing month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Review select journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ensure the established internal controls framework is adhered to
  • Assist in managing the external audit process
  • Contribute to technical accounting research, projects, and implementation of new accounting standards or non-standard transactions
  • Spearhead process improvement or system change projects impacting the General Ledger and accounting function
  • Contribute to preparation and review of 10-Q, 10-K, and other SEC filings
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as FP&A, Legal, Operations, and Tax on recurring and ad hoc reporting requests
  • Prepare financial analyses, including variance analysis against budget and evaluation of key business drivers
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support for development
  • Partner with other departments to support overall organizational goals and objectives
Span of Control
  • Responsible for leading one or more distinct functional areas
  • May manage external vendor relationships
  • Work deliverables are often self-initiated
Typical Minimum Education & Experience; Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
  • Demonstrated relevant experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills #IND
