Our client, a well-established and growing construction organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team. This position is open due to a planned retirement, providing an excellent opportunity to work alongside a long-tenured accounting professional during a comprehensive transition before their retirement in 2027.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys the operational side of construction accounting and wants to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization. As the company expands into new markets and commercial construction projects, this position offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and become a key member of the accounting team.

OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:

• 
  
• Manage AIA billing for commercial construction projects.
• 
  
• Prepare and maintain lien waivers throughout the billing process.
• 
  
• Process weekly certified payroll for field employees.
• 
  
• Complete monthly union reporting for multiple labor unions.
• 
  
• Review, code, and approve vendor invoices.
• 
  
• Set up new construction projects within the accounting system.
• 
  
• Maintain employee setup and records for field personnel.
• 
  
• Prepare cash reports and other operational and financial reporting.
• 
  
• Partner with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and project financial reporting.
• 
  
• Assist with month-end close and other general accounting functions.
• 
  
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support the company's continued growth.
• 
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER:

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 
  
• 6+ years of accounting experience.
• 
  
• Construction industry accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• 
  
• Hands-on experience with:

  • AIA billing
  • 
    
  • Certified payroll
  • 
    
  • Union reporting
  • 
    
  • Job costing
  • 
    
  • Construction accounting
  • 
    
  
  
• 
  
• Experience with Sage 300 is preferred.
• 
  
• Experience with construction ERP systems such as Vista Viewpoint or Spectrum is a plus.

• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and creating spreadsheets independently.
