Accounting Manager
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee general accounting operations and lead a high-performing accounting team. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, managing the month-end close process, maintaining internal controls, and supporting audit and tax compliance activities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical expertise, experience managing complex accounting operations, and a passion for developing teams.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the general ledger and accounting team.

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, consolidations, foreign currency activity, and supporting schedules.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, and balance sheet analyses.

  • Monitor financial activity throughout the reporting cycle to identify unusual transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.

  • Partner with business leaders to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.

  • Coordinate and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.

  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support compliance and operational efficiency.

  • Support system enhancements and process improvement initiatives related to accounting and financial reporting.

  • Oversee tax compliance activities by coordinating with external tax advisors and ensuring timely preparation of required filings and payments.

  • Review monthly financial results and perform variance analysis to ensure the accuracy of financial records.

  • Supervise accounts payable, invoicing, and other accounting functions to ensure timely processing and accurate reporting.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing close timelines and increasing operational efficiency.
Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

  • Establish goals, provide coaching, conduct performance evaluations, and support career development planning.

  • Allocate resources and prioritize workloads to meet departmental objectives.

  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding accounting talent.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and provide financial guidance to business stakeholders.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • CPA designation preferred.

  • Master's degree (MBA or Accounting) is a plus.

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger functions.

  • Background supporting external audits and working with outside accounting firms.

  • Experience with financial consolidations and intercompany accounting preferred.

  • ERP experience required;Microsoft Dynamics GP or comparable accounting systems preferred.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred Experience

  • Multi-entity and multi-currency accounting environments.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.

  • Experience improving accounting processes and implementing system enhancements.

  • Knowledge of sales tax, income tax, and other regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
