Job Description

Position Summary

Our client, a growing construction organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, overseeing month-end close processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience working in a project-based environment, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Analyze project costs, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and job profitability.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial insight on construction projects.
  • Support external audits, tax preparation, and compliance reporting.
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions for accuracy.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and internal controls.
  • Prepare management reports and ad hoc financial analyses as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based industries.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online
