Banyan Search is looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations and accounts payable functions within a growing organization. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role will oversee month-end close activities, ensure GAAP compliance, strengthen internal controls, and drive process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial analysis, and issue resolution.
Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and internal control requirements.
Partner with business leaders and IT teams to improve processes, system utilization, and data integrity.
Serve as a key contact for external auditors and support audit-related activities.
Oversee accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting and AP team members.
Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and workflow enhancements.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support operational and business decisions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
Prior experience leading or supervising accounting teams.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Proven ability to drive process improvements and system enhancements.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
