Accounts Payable Specialist - Mechanical Construction

Accounts Payable Specialist | Construction-Focused | High-Volume Environment

A well-established organization supporting multiple companies in the construction and engineering space is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing high-volume invoice processing in a fast-paced environment. You’ll play a key role in keeping financial operations running smoothly while working closely with vendors and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and process invoices, ensuring proper documentation, coding, and approvals
• Assign invoices to correct cost centers and job codes
• Prepare and process check runs and payment requests
• Prioritize invoices based on payment terms and available discounts
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or past-due balances
• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain strong working relationships
• Assist with month-end close and maintain accurate financial records
• Ensure all files and documentation are organized and audit-ready

What You Bring:

• 3–5 years of accounts payable experience (construction or job-cost environment strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, reconciliations, and vendor management
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Vista or similar is a plus)
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, ownership mindset
