NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Duration

This position is funded for up to 240 total hours.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Administrative Officer series 0341 OR HS/GED Degree

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint
Duties:

The enrollee will support administrative activities for Weir Farm National Historical Park, providing technical and financial assistance to the new Administrative Officer and Superintendent. Work may include consulting on all aspects of budgeting, and mentoring the current AO in a range of administrative duties and in leadership and communications.

  • Budget and Finance: Support the Administrative Officer by providing advice, recommendations, or analyses on systems and cyclic tasks associated with budget roles and established park close-out procedures based in institutional knowledge. Budget support will not include inherently governmental tasks, rather the enrollee will provide technical support and advice related to process and systems to government officials (the Administrative Officer). Advise the Administrative Officer on annual close-out procedures and providing technical support in FBMS and AFS systems.   60%
  • Physical Property Inventory: Assist the Administrative Officer with physical property inventory and provide technical assistance in property system and property disposal practices.   25%
  • Human Resources: Provide advice, recommendations, or analyses to government officials on systems and tasks associated with human resources roles and established park procedures. Human Resource program support will not include inherently governmental tasks, rather the enrollee will provide technical support and advice related to process and systems associated with hiring and onboarding. Advise on cyclic tasks such as seasonal employee onboarding, furlough and term appointment actions, and provide overview of Human Resources best practices and annual schedule to support new Administrative Officer.   15%
