Job Description
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Reporting- Assist in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities.
- Assist with consolidations and intercompany accounting where applicable.
Real Estate Accounting- Oversee accounting for a diversified real estate portfolio, including commercial, retail, office, industrial, or multifamily assets.
- Monitor capital expenditures, development projects, and fixed asset accounting.
- Ensure compliance with lender reporting requirements and ownership reporting packages.
Leadership & Operations- Mentor, develop, and supervise members of the accounting team while fostering a collaborative environment.
- Assist with establishing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Drive process improvements and help identify opportunities to streamline workflows through technology and automation.
- Serve as a key resource for cross-functional teams, including Operations, Asset Management, and Finance.
Compliance & Audit- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and work closely with external auditors.
- Assist with tax reporting by partnering with outside tax advisors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Prior real estate industry experience required, including property accounting and multi-entity reporting.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with real estate accounting software and large ERP systems (Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple departments.
