The Assistant Dean for Faculty Development at LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine, serves the School of Medicine mission to provide professional development activities and opportunities to faculty involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education (UME and GME). Notably, the assistant dean will provide faculty members structured faculty development programming designed to enhance the transference of knowledge, skill and behavior from the educator to the learner. The Assistant Dean for Faculty Development will report directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Administration and work collaboratively to promote an atmosphere of continuous professional development to support an ongoing strategy for faculty development within the School of Medicine. The assistant dean will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur to ensure that satisfaction is met at all times. Essential Functions: Provide key administrative and programmatic development of structured faculty development programs for the school of medicine. Serve as the point of initial contact and primary liaison for the physician leaders and other educators such as designated institutional officials, department chairs, and program directors ensuring that all faculty development needs and requirements for undergraduate and graduate medical education programs are met and addressed in a timely manner. Identify the resources, priorities and infrastructure necessary to advance faculty professional development efforts and opportunities within the school. Lead the office of faculty development in promoting an environment that models excellent effective teamwork, outstanding service, and productivity. Assist in identifying, developing, organizing and implementing structured programing for faculty development for the purpose of enhancing the transference of knowledge, skill and behavior from the educator to the learner such as lectures, workshops, etc. Gather stakeholder(s) to include faculty feedback and data to make programmatic recommendations to senior leadership. Notably, assists in identifying need areas through insight gained from results of faculty educa9onal evaluations in collaboration with respective stakeholders and develops and incorporates programing that address the identified need(s) into program-wide faculty development plans. Coordinate and work with internal and external partners/stakeholders to create, support and facilitate the access and engagement of faculty in faculty development programs toward the advancement of their professional development as educators, clinicians and scientist. Assist in gathering and collating faculty members participation in faculty development programs and activities related to their skills as an educator, clinician, scientist and scholarly activities for accreditation reporting purposes. Create and manage project timelines, monitor and perform necessary tracking and evaluation of the effectiveness of the implemented faculty development programs and activities annually and identify areas of strength and opportunity for improvement. Working with other offices within the school of medicine, assist to compile documents, materials, and records to support the professional development of faculty applications for promotion and tenure to include faculty educational evaluations. Work with Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Administration to support ongoing faculty development projects and programs. Regular attendance of the allocated percent effort is required to perform the functions of this position. Perform other related duties and activities, as assigned.
