As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or similar) at the time of employment with a specialization in Adult Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development or a related field such as adult education, human resource development, or organization development.

Position Summary

The University of Georgia's Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development (LLOD) Program in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Adult Education and Human Resource Development. The successful candidate will join the faculty on August 1, 2027.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated scholarship in adult learning, leadership, and organization development, preferably with interest in examining complex societal challenges affecting adult learners in organizational, collaborative, and/or societal contexts.
• Evidence of the promise of moving towards a strong record of scholarly research that advances the fields of Adult Education and Human Resource Development and related areas. This includes an active record of scholarship and productivity in terms of peer-reviewed publications in academic journals and professional presentations commensurate with experience.
• Evidence or strong potential for seeking and attracting external funding. Evidence of potential may include success with small-scale proposals, training/preparation relative to seeking external funds.
• Evidence or the promise of teaching graduate courses and mentoring students, either as an instructor of record or as a teaching assistant. Evidence may include a record of presentations and training, course evaluations, informal mentoring in terms of working with others on projects and advising students towards degree completion.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

This position requires (a) teaching the equivalent of two courses per semester in the program or department and (b) the delivery of face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction on our Athens, Gwinnett, and Online campuses. Tenure-track faculty members in our department are full-time 9-month (academic year) faculty members who have a strong academic background, professional experience in LLOD, and a commitment to facilitating learning, leadership, and change with adults, groups, organizations, and communities in complex, shifting, transformative times. As with all faculty positions in the department, tenure-track faculty engage in scholarly activities; teach courses across LLOD programs; provide academic advising to students as assigned; and engage in service to the department, the University, and the profession.
