Department Overview:

The School of Dentistry shares the mission of the Oregon Health & Science University to provide educational programs, basic and clinical research, and high quality care and community programs. Function/Duties of Position:

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): Dr. Caroline Zeller

 

The duties of this position shall include- Under the direction of the Div Head, Oral Surgery & GPR, the Assistant Professor will support substantially two of the four mission areas of the university and School of Dentistry, using utmost quality, productivity and efficiency: Education of oral health care providers and patient care which means the highest quality standards befitting of an academic health center. Curricular duties should be current and relevant to both the pre-doctoral students and the residents. This position in OMFS primarily encompasses teaching and supervising dental students and residents as they perform minor oral surgery under local anesthesia. This includes management of medical emergencies in the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic.

 

The general working hours of this position will be set by the Division Head of the department but deviations from general patterns may be necessary at time to meet position responsibilities. 

Required Qualifications:
  • DDS or DMD from a CODA accredited school
  • Broad experience in teaching and practicing operative oral and maxillofacial surgery
  • Hold current Oregon Dental License with General Anesthesia Permit
  • BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled in an OHSU training course and will be required to complete the course during the onboarding process
  • Ability to gain hospital privileges
  • MD is preferred
