Description

Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing organization looking to add a driven Business Development Consultant to its team in Chicago. This is a high-impact, hybrid role for someone who thrives on building relationships, uncovering new revenue opportunities, and turning prospects into long-term partners. Our client wants a consultative seller who can represent their brand with credibility and bring a strategic mindset to every conversation.

Day to day, you will spend time researching target markets, reaching out to prospective clients, running discovery calls, and shaping proposals that speak directly to a prospect's needs. The role suits someone who is equally comfortable working independently to build a pipeline and collaborating with marketing, sales, and leadership teams to refine go-to-market strategy. People who do well here are curious, resilient in the face of rejection, and energized by hitting measurable growth targets.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities through research, networking, and outbound outreach
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective clients across target industries
  • Conduct discovery calls and needs assessments to understand prospect challenges
  • Develop and deliver compelling proposals, pitches, and presentations
  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing to close new business
  • Maintain accurate records of prospect activity and pipeline status in the CRM
  • Collaborate with marketing to refine messaging and lead generation campaigns
  • Track industry trends and competitor activity to inform strategy
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to generate leads
  • Partner with account management to ensure smooth client handoff and onboarding

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in business development, sales, or consulting
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and pipeline targets
  • Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple prospects and priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with regular in-office collaboration
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership over results

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k plan with employer match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Performance-based bonus and commission opportunities
  • Hybrid work schedule with flexibility
  • Professional development and training support
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Collaborative, growth-oriented team culture
  • Career advancement opportunities
