This role may be located in our New York or Washington, DC office.The Business Development Manager serves as a strategic partner to practice leaders and senior attorneys, driving business development initiatives that expand client relationships, generate new opportunities, and strengthen the firm's international market position. This role plays a central part in advancing the firm's global growth strategy, and the BDM will bring a strong understanding of global markets and regulatory environments. As a key liaison between the practices and the Marketing Department, this role collaborates across teams to deliver sophisticated, client-focused solutions and advance firm-wide priorities.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Business DevelopmentPartner with practice chairs and working group leaders to develop and execute international business development strategiesIdentify market trends, client opportunities, and cross-border growth areasDrive cross-practice and cross-regional collaboration to expand client relationshipsGlobal & Regional Market SupportSupport business development efforts across priority international markets, tailoring strategies and materials to local dynamicsLeverage market intelligence and client insights to position the firm effectively in global marketsPitches, Proposals & Client EngagementLead the development of high-impact pitches and RFP responses, aligning client needs with the firm's value propositionCoach partners and senior attorneys for client meetings and presentationsLateral Integration & Client DevelopmentSupport the integration of lateral partners through targeted client planning and coordinated business development strategiesData, Reporting & Budget ManagementDevelop and manage practice group budgets and track ROI on business development initiativesUtilize CRM and other tools to track activity, support client targeting, and inform decision-makingMarketing & Profile-Raising InitiativesOversee development of global marketing collateral in collaboration with Marketing CommunicationsCoordinate webinars, client events, and international conferencesLead strategy and execution of directory and award submissions, including ChambersIdentify and support media and profile-raising opportunities, including PR, sponsorships, and speaking engagementsTeam LeadershipSupervise and mentor junior business development team membersProvide guidance on pitches, proposals, directory submissions, and marketing materialsContribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environmentQualificationsBachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plusMinimum of 6 years of business development or marketing experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environmentStrong understanding of cross-border business development, global markets, and regulatory environmentsFluency in Spanish or another major language strongly preferredExceptional writing and communication skillsProven ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong client service orientation and ability to build credibility with senior stakeholdersExperience with CRM systems, experience management tools (e.g., Foundation), and AI-enabled tools preferredDemonstrated leadership and supervisory experienceAbility to handle a variety of tasks simultaneouslyPlease submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.The anticipated base salary for this position is $128,000 to $180,000.
