Job Description Summary
The Communications Officer is an essential employee responsible for coordinating and monitoring the Campus Safety response to address calls for service and emergency situations. The Communications Officer is the primary person interacting with customers on the telephone and in-person and for documenting relevant details into the Computer Aided Dispatch system. The Communications Officer is responsible for performing support functions for the Campus Safety Department including, but not limited to, monitoring of a variety of security and fire alarm systems, issuing new and replacement NazCards, issuing controlled keys/ID cards, and processing and issuing parking permits for the entire university. The Communications Officer is responsible for managing student employees tasked with assisting communication functions. Provides general support to the entire Campus Safety Department. This position is responsible for adhering to documented Standard Operating Procedures for all functions within the position's remit. This position is a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Clery Act.
