CFO/Controller

A growing payroll and HCM company is seeking a strong finance leader to take ownership of its financial operations and grow into a major leadership role within the organization. Candidates do not need to currently hold a CFO title. An experienced Controller, VP or Director of Finance, Head of Finance, or strong second in command who is ready for greater responsibility may be an excellent fit.

This role requires someone with a strong accounting and financial foundation who also thinks like an operator. The ideal candidate can use financial data to identify problems, improve profitability, strengthen controls, and make better business decisions. This individual should be comfortable both leading at a high level and getting into the details when needed.

The right candidate will have the ability to build strong systems, processes, controls, and teams while taking increasing ownership of Finance, Payroll Tax, profitability, and overall financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounting and day to day financial operations

• Manage financial statements, reporting, and month end and year end close processes

• Oversee cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

• Maintain strong reconciliations, controls, and financial processes

• Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability

• Build and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls

• Lead financial projects and ensure initiatives are properly implemented

• Develop and manage a strong finance team

• Partner with leadership on financial strategy and business decisions

• Oversee and develop knowledge of Payroll Tax and related financial operations

• Identify financial and operational issues and drive them through resolution

• Support the continued growth and development of the organization

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience required

• Strong accounting and financial reporting foundation required

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, reconciliations, and financial controls

• Controller, Director of Finance, VP of Finance, Head of Finance, or similar leadership experience preferred

• Strong operational and analytical mindset

• Proven ability to lead people, projects, and process improvements

• Ability to build systems, processes, controls, and teams

• Comfortable working both strategically and hands on

• Strong ownership, judgment, and follow through

• Payroll, Payroll Tax, HCM, PEO, staffing, or other transaction heavy industry experience is a strong plus

• Multi state tax and compliance experience is a plus

• Deep Payroll Tax expertise is preferred but not required for a strong candidate who can learn quickly and lead technical team members

Salary: $150,000 to $250,000/year
