Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist (CF-SLP) to join our LEAP Program (Lifeskills and
Education for Students with Autism and Other Pervasive Behavioral Challenges Program)
. This position provides a structured and supportive Clinical Fellowship experience while serving children and adolescents with complex communication, cognitive, feeding, swallowing, and developmental needs.

The Clinical Fellow will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide evidence-based assessment and intervention services under the mentorship of experienced Speech-Language Pathologists. Position Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide direct intervention for speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, oral motor, feeding, and swallowing disorders.
  • Implement services in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and established departmental standards.
  • Utilize evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches that support each student's strengths, goals, and needs.

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Collaborate with teachers, families, physicians, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior specialists, and other team members.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and educational planning meetings.
  • Partner with caregivers and educational teams to promote skill generalization across environments.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation.
  • Complete case management responsibilities in accordance with Institute policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to standards established by:
    • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
    • Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
    • The Joint Commission (TJC)
    • Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)

Professional Development

  • Participate in structured Clinical Fellowship supervision and mentoring.
  • Engage in departmental training, continuing education, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, advocacy, and program development initiatives.
  • Successfully complete all ASHA Clinical Fellowship requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field.
  • Eligible for and able to obtain a Maryland Speech-Language Pathologist Limited License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within three months of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to completing ASHA Clinical Fellowship requirements.

Preferred

  • Academic coursework, practicum experience, or specialized training in pediatric speech-language pathology.
  • Experience with communication disorders, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, complex communication needs, or feeding/swallowing disorders.
  • Experience working with children in educational, clinical, or community-based settings.

School-Based Requirements

  • Ability to complete Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification according to departmental requirements.

  • Ability to move throughout classrooms, treatment spaces, and program locations.
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology, therapy equipment, and assistive communication devices.
  • On-site presence is required; hybrid opportunities may be available based on departmental needs.
  • May occasionally work outside standard business hours.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and challenging behavioral situations as part of a school and healthcare environment.

 

Minimum pay range: USD $33.65/Hr. Maximum pay range: USD $33.65/Yr.
