Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic co-founder & CEO to lead Magic Books
to new heights. This individual will partner with the founding team as a
cofounder, taking ownership of the company’s strategic direction, scaling
operations to a $10 million initial revenue milestone, building a scalable
franchise model, and identifying and executing strategic acquisitions in the
bookkeeping and tax accounting space. The ideal candidate is a proven leader
with a track record of scaling businesses, expertise in franchise development,
experience in acquisitions, and a passion for financial services.
Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a bold vision to grow Magic Books
into a $10 million+ revenue business, driving operational excellence and
market dominance.
* Franchise Development: Design, build, and launch a replicable franchise model
for bookkeeping and tax accounting services, including systems, training, and
support structures for franchisees.
* Acquisition Strategy: Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic acquisitions
of bookkeeping, tax accounting, or related businesses to accelerate growth,
expand market share, and enhance service offerings.
* Business Scaling: Oversee all aspects of scaling operations, from sales and
marketing to team building, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
* Financial Expertise: Leverage experience in bookkeeping, tax accounting, or
related financial services to refine our offerings and ensure they meet
market demands.
* Networking & Events: Represent Magic Books at industry conferences, events,
and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and secure strategic
partnerships.
* Team Leadership: Recruit, inspire, and manage a high-performing team,
fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer focus.
* P&L Accountability: Manage budgets, revenue targets, and financial
performance, ensuring alignment with long-term growth objectives, including
post-acquisition integration.
Qualifications:
* Proven Scaling Experience: Successfully scaled a business to $10 million+ in
revenue, ideally in a service-based or SaaS industry.
* Franchise Expertise: Demonstrated success in building and launching a
franchise model, preferably in bookkeeping, accounting, tax services, or a
related field.
* Acquisition Experience: Track record of identifying, negotiating, and
integrating acquisitions to drive business growth, ideally in financial
services or a related sector.
* Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of bookkeeping, tax accounting, or
financial services, with the ability to innovate within the space.
* Leadership Acumen: 7+ years in executive leadership (CEO, COO, or similar),
with a track record of driving growth, managing cross-functional teams, and
overseeing M&A activities.
* Personable & Network-Driven: Charismatic and outgoing, with a willingness to
attend events, conferences, and networking opportunities to elevate the
brand.
* Entrepreneurial Mindset: Comfortable working in a startup environment, with a
hands-on approach and a hunger to build something transformative.
* Location: Willingness to work in-office in Iowa, with flexibility for travel
to support franchise expansion, acquisitions, and industry engagement.
