Description

Controller Summary We are seeking an experienced Controller to take full ownership of the accounting and financial operations for a Downtown Houston Law Firm. This is a hands?on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, with direct management of a small accounting team. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Own all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial operations
  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
  • Oversee cash flow, general ledger, reconciliations, and close processes
  • Administer the company’s 401(k) plan, including coordination with vendors and compliance requirements
  • Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and reporting as needed
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, tax, and audit requirements
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and controls


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5–6+ years of experience in a Controller role
  • Prior law firm or professional services accounting experience
  • CPA or advanced accounting credentials (a plus, not required)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proven experience managing accounting staff
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • High level of accountability, reliability, and ownership
