Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a highly respected company in Central Arkansas to help them find a Controller. This role will oversee core accounting operations, lead financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and serve as a key business partner to leadership in a high-volume, client-focused, deadline-driven environment. This is a highly visible position with strong long-term growth potential, including a future path to CFO.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full accounting function, including general ledger, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and balance sheet integrity.
  • Manage high-volume, high-transaction accounting activity with accuracy, efficiency, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Review and analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide strategic insight to leadership.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to support compliance and scalability.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and long-range financial strategy.
  • Oversee audit preparation and serve as a key contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional partners.
  • Improve accounting processes, drive efficiencies, and support automation and system enhancements where appropriate.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues, support business operations, and enhance service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Initially function as an individual contributor with no direct reports, with future opportunity to lead and develop a team of 5–7+ accounting professionals as the organization grows.
  • Serve as a trusted financial resource to leadership and contribute to the organization's continued growth and future CFO succession path.

Technical and functional requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA highly desired.
  • 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, with tenured senior or manager-level public accounting experience highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in a high-volume, high-transaction environment required
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Leadership experience preferred, with the ability to grow into people management over time.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Currently serving in a Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, or similar senior accounting leadership role.
  • Public accounting background with strong experience in complex accounting and client service environments.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation setting with demanding internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enjoys building structure, improving processes, and creating long-term accounting stability.
  • Demonstrates executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to grow with the organization.
  • Interested in a role with a strong career trajectory.

This is a critical position for the organization, so the candidate must be on-site, with no remote or hybrid option available. The ideal candidate will be local or willing to relocate to Central Arkansas.
