Position Highlights:

The Cook prepares food for the café and patients by following a recipe, ensures the food is cooked to proper temperature and helps with any catering as necessary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares food and serves hospital patrons and patients.
  • Takes and completes orders from customers and cooks foods requiring short preparation time, according to customer/patient requirements.
  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Follows recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.
  • Operates a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
  • Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • Selects recipes per menu cycle, prepares bakery items, receives inventory, moves and lifts foodstuffs and supplies, and prepares meals for customers requiring special diets.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment, as necessary.
  • Follows client and regulatory rules and procedures

Qualifications:

  • High School/GED
  • Previous experience is high desirable
