General Description:
Metro Technology Centers is now accepting applications for the position of Cook Il. This role will work closely with the catering partner to support catering operations for the District Conference Center. The Cook II also contributes to daily service in the Café and assists with the Food Truck. The position involves mentoring students and staff, helping them build and refine their culinary skills.
General Qualification Requirements:

Representative Duties:
Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short and broader preparation time.
Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
Promotes an environment within the department that facilitates mutual respect, and effective two-way communication, and supports diversity.
Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
Evaluate food selections, equipment, furniture, and supplies to be used in conference spaces.
Verify that actual food preparation meets client specifications.
Visually observe facilities prior to scheduled events to ensure all standard and/or special set-ups and specifications have been completed.
Orders and inventories of food items for catering functions and the cafe as needed.
Attends work regularly following a designated work schedule. Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
Maintains a clean and sanitized work area that is also in compliance with HACCP.
Reacts to change productively and handles related tasks as assigned.
The chef is expected to maintain a personal appearance and dress appropriate for the professional setting of the employer. Professional grooming along conservative lines is essential. Please note that the following frequently applies:
Exaggerated clothing and hairstyles are out of place.
Hair must be neatly groomed, and style/length must comply with company policies.
Hairnets or hats are required in food production and service areas.
Nails should be clean and short. Certain nail polish colors may be prohibited or not permitted at all in food production areas.
Avoid excessive use of perfume, cologne, or after-shave lotion.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Manage staff to assist with food truck operations
Train staff and students in proper kitchen conduct and food handling, overseeing the sanitation and safety of the truck.
Implement and manage inventory system for food truck and commissary
