POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cook III job includes an ongoing commitment to the preparation of quality food products and service excellence. The Cook III is advanced in kitchen processes and cooking techniques, presentation, and skills. The Cook III assists with the training and development of kitchen staff through day-to-day coaching and hands on
training. The Cook III reports direct to the Executive Chef.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepare food products for the residents and customers.
  • Provides hands on training and guidance for other kitchen staff for developmental and coaching opportunities.
  • Assure plate presentation is consistent and high quality with all dishes.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of experience in all facets of cooking including but not limited to grilling, sautéing, baking, food prep, creativity, and advanced cooking knowledge.
  • Follow proper procedures for receiving food and food storage.
  • Perform sanitation duties in kitchen work area.
  • Complete assigned record keeping duties.
  • Follow state and all regulatory compliance requirements to assure department is operating within guidelines.
  • Support positive communication and relationships with other departments.
  • Provides direct support to the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager.
  • Provide creativity with feedback for new dish suggestions and presentations to enhance the dietary experience for residents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year cooking experience in a commercial kitchen highly preferred.
  • 1 year experience teaching other kitchen staff cooking techniques highly preferred.
  • Must have Food Handlers Card and maintain current certification during employment.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment while meeting regulatory compliance.
  • Must posses the ability to effectively communicate and provide support in a clear, concise and respectful manner.
  • Thorough documentation skills including grammatical, spelling and organization.
  • The ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing business conditions.
