    Job Description

    Watch Me Grow Child Development Center, Inc. [an ALABAMA QUALITY S.T.A.R.S/Q.R.I.S RATED FACILITY] is seeking an experienced Cook to join our team. This role involves preparing and serving meals according to food requirements, maintaining organization and cleanliness, following all food safety and sanitation standards, and managing prep work efficiently. The right candidate is dependable, able to work independently or as part of a team, and has a strong commitment to consistent food quality.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Prepared food items per menu specifications.
    • Carry out duties of recording and order control.
    • Responsible for helping in food control and inventory, as well as the rotating of stock (use oldest items first).
    • Responsible for prep, planning and serving nutritious meals and snack based on the State of Alabama Food Pyramid and Food Program requirements.
    • Organize constant cleaning of kitchen, carts, and equipment, stove, refrigerators and freezers.
    • Make sure to maintain the cleanness and safety of floors by following all sanitation and proper cleaning rules
    • Responsible for recording proper quantities of all cooked food items on the Production Sheet and the Daily Meal Count of each class for each meal and snack.
    • Responsible for serving all meals with proper components and substituting as needed for all dietary and/or food allergies.
    • Willing to do various other duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES:
    • Must be 18 (eighteen) years or older and have a High School Diploma/GED or higher degree.
    • At least one (1) year or more of experience in a Kitchen or Restaurant facility environment as a Cook/Line Cook/Prep Cook.
    • Food Handler’s Card.
    • Background Check (DHR).
    • Participate in training classes and attend mandatory staff meetings as scheduled.
    • Must be reliable and have ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    •  Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to change in the program.
    • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be physically able to perform the job of a cook and in any other capacity as needed.
    • Must have warm and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families.
    • Must work well with others, as well as, be able to follow instructions and work independently when necessary.
    • Must be able to lift food items (dry goods or perishable) 10 pounds or more in weight.
