Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions
Cook 2 responsibilities include: Assisting the team with their daily tasks as noted by supervisor or kitchen manager.
Basic line cooking which may include grilling, frying, baking, steaming, sauteing and any other food as assigned.
Experienced cook that can handle any type of cooking with minimal training
Able to help develop, execute and train on new menu items
Communicates about needs and maintains a sanitary an organized workspace
Prepares, portions and cooks hot and cold food for daily use, including chopping vegetables, portioning food, portioning meat, soups, sauces or any other food as assigned.
Answers, reports and follows instructions from Café Manager and Kitchen Manager
Cleans up station and ensures leftover food is stored or disposed of properly
Sets up and stocks stations with necessary supplies when needed
Applies and maintains ServeSafe and HAACP standards for safe and presentable food practices
Ensures that all problems are reported immediately to the Café Manager
Assists with checking in and putting away any incoming orders promptly and in accordance with state and department guidelines
Reports all incidents/accidents, unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately
Follows established safety rules and regulations
Responsible for ensuring food quality and proper temperatures
Responsible for helping maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen including all refrigerated and dry storage areas
Attends department staff meetings as directed
Maintains confidentiality of company information
Performs any other tasks assigned by supervisors to ensure quality food service.
Daily Tasks:
Prepares assigned station upon arrival, ensure station assigned is stocked and ready for cooking
Executes assigned station cooking with training as needed
Daily kitchen prep as assigned by kitchen/cafe manager
Maintain clean workstation, cleaning up as needed throughout shift
Shift between line stations as needed throughout shift
Trash removal as needed or as requested by Kitchen/Café Manager
Cleans station at the end of shift
Weekly Tasks
Tasks assigned by Kitchen/Café Manager as needed
Qualities & Qualifications
Hold a valid and current California Food Handler’s Certificate
Good physical condition and endurance
Ability to operate in a team environment is essential
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to set priorities in shifting assignments
Must remain detail oriented in an environment with strict time constraints
Ability to work independently or with a team
Working knowledge of health and safety rules in a professional kitchen
Working knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
