  • Thursday; 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Overview

Job Summary:
Responsible for performing general diagnostic radiographic exams in an acute care setting to adult and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders.

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Performs imaging examinations in X-Ray, including general radiography, fluoro studies, and intra-op imaging; May also be trained to perform QC or provide back-up coverage in Pain Clinic.
  • Explains procedures to patients and maintains a safe and comfortable environment; Provides necessary pre- and post- procedure patient care.
  • Completes review of patients’ chart to verify exam orders and validate reason for exam.
  • Interview patients regarding personal history, implanted devices, contrast allergies, etc.
  • Practices proper patient positioning and exam protocols to achieve diagnostic quality imaging.
  • Adjust, maintain, and operate imaging equipment by following applicable protocol parameters to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images.
  • Administer contrast under radiologists’ supervision, when applicable.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and ensure safety throughout the procedure.
  • Implement radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, by adhering to ALARA guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records within clinical documentation support systems; Manages imaging data in PACS and documents procedures in EMR.
  • Follows best practice safety guidelines as established by ACR and other regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provides clinical instructions and evaluations for students.
  • Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Associate degree in Radiography
  • Experience: 4+ years
  • Supervisor Experience: None required


Licenses & Certifications:

  • R.T.(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • BLS required within 30 days of employment.
