Essential Duties

• Design engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire students to think critically, solve real-world problems, and explore engineering and technology concepts.
• Deliver Project Lead the Way curriculum using project-based learning, design thinking, and collaborative instructional practices.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, district curriculum, and PLTW expectations.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where creativity, curiosity, innovation, and student voice are encouraged.
• Foster a classroom culture where students learn through experimentation, collaboration, perseverance, and continuous improvement.
• Guide students through the engineering design process as they develop, test, evaluate, and refine solutions to authentic challenges.
• Establish clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate high expectations for student success.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and assessment methods to maximize student engagement and achievement.
• Evaluate student learning and growth using formative and summative assessments while maintaining accurate academic records and progress reports.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, achievement, and opportunities for continued growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, administrators, and support staff to create meaningful learning experiences and support student success.
• Prepare students for future STEM pathways by connecting classroom learning to careers in engineering, technology, manufacturing, computer science, and design.
• Maintain instructional materials, equipment, and classroom resources while promoting safe and responsible use of tools and technology.
• Participate in curriculum development, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), district professional learning, and required Project Lead the Way training.
• Sponsor or support Career and Technical Education (CTE) student leadership opportunities and competitions when appropriate.
• Maintain professional competence through continuous learning and by staying current with emerging technologies and instructional best practices.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with all district, state, and federal policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Holds or is eligible to hold a North Carolina Technology, Engineering & Design (820) teaching license or other appropriate Career and Technical Education licensure.
• Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Candidates with degrees or professional experience in engineering, architecture, industrial design, manufacturing, computer science, technology, or related STEM fields are encouraged to apply.
• Prior teaching or industry experience preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
