Job Description
Designs and develops Houston ISD curriculum for Kindergarten through 5th grade Reading Language Arts, including Science of Reading-aligned instruction. Emphasizes creation of high-quality, teacher-facing instructional materials, including slide decks, Demonstrations of Learning (DOLs), literacy activities, and differentiated assignments aligned to daily learning objectives to support effective classroom implementation.

Job Qualifications
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years teaching or curriculum experience in elementary literacy
TYPE OF SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Software Oracle SAP Microsoft Office Other: Science of Reading, structured literacy, curriculum design Equipment Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Level 1-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.
BUDGET AUTHORITY
No budget development activity is required.

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
