Regents School of Austin is seeking a gifted and experienced Dance Teacher & Knightline Director to join our Fine Arts team immediately.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Dance Teacher & Knightline Director is responsible for providing high-quality dance instruction and directing Regents School of Austin’s Knightline drill team. This position teaches students in the art and discipline of dance, develops technical and performance skills, and cultivates an environment of excellence, discipline, teamwork, and joy.
The Dance Teacher & Knightline Director plans and delivers age-appropriate dance instruction, directs Knightline rehearsals and performances, and coordinates the team’s participation in school events, competitions, and other performances. The position works closely with the Director of Fine Arts and other faculty and staff to ensure that dance and Knightline programs support the mission and educational philosophy of Regents School of Austin.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Dance Instruction
- Teach dance classes in accordance with the school’s curriculum, instructional expectations, and educational philosophy.
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate dance instruction that builds technical skill, artistry, strength, coordination, discipline, and confidence.
- Plan lessons, rehearsals, choreography, and performances appropriate to students’ developmental levels and abilities.
- Provide students with clear instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
- Assess student progress and communicate appropriately with students, parents, and school leadership regarding student development.
- Maintain a positive, orderly, and appropriately challenging learning environment.
- Incorporate opportunities for students to develop perseverance, teamwork, discipline, creativity, and excellence through dance.
- Integrate the school’s Classical, Christian vision into instruction and interactions with students.
Knightline Direction
- Serve as the director of Regents School of Austin’s Knightline drill team.
- Plan and lead regular Knightline practices and rehearsals.
- Teach choreography, dance technique, conditioning, performance skills, and team routines.
- Develop and maintain a high standard of excellence, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and professionalism within the team.
- Select, teach, and prepare routines for school performances, pep rallies, athletic events, competitions, and other approved appearances.
- Coordinate Knightline participation in competitions, festivals, performances, and community events.
- Manage team auditions, tryouts, placements, and other team-related processes in accordance with school expectations.
- Establish and communicate clear expectations for attendance, conduct, dress, preparation, and participation.
- Monitor student participation and performance and address concerns appropriately and promptly.
- Foster healthy relationships among team members and promote a culture of encouragement, respect, accountability, and unity.
- Coordinate with the Director of Fine Arts and appropriate school leadership regarding Knightline schedules, events, competitions, and significant student or team concerns.
Student Development & Care
- Build positive, appropriate relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries and modeling Christ-centered conduct.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, perseverance, responsibility, and respect for others.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to individual student needs and concerns.
- Communicate concerns regarding student behavior, performance, or well-being through appropriate school channels.
- Encourage students to use their gifts in service to the school community and others.
- Partner appropriately with parents in supporting student growth and participation.
Program & Event Coordination
- Coordinate dance performances and Knightline appearances in collaboration with the Director of Fine Arts and appropriate school personnel.
- Prepare students and routines for performances, competitions, and other events.
- Coordinate costumes, music, props, choreography, and other materials necessary for dance and Knightline performances.
- Communicate schedules, expectations, and event information clearly to students and parents.
- Maintain appropriate records related to classes, team participation, attendance, and performances.
- Assist with planning and coordinating dance-related events, camps, clinics, or other approved enrichment opportunities.
- Steward school resources, costumes, equipment, and other program materials responsibly.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate clearly, graciously, and professionally with students, parents, faculty, staff, and school leadership.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Fine Arts and other faculty and staff to support the broader Fine Arts program.
- Coordinate appropriately with athletic, academic, and administrative personnel when dance or Knightline activities intersect with other school programs.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other meetings as required.
- Represent Regents School of Austin and its mission positively in school and community settings.
- Perform other duties related to dance instruction and Knightline direction as assigned.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience teaching dance and/or directing a drill team, dance team, or similar performing arts program.
- Experience working with school-aged students required.
- Experience with choreography, competitions, performances, and team direction preferred.
