Overview
Utah State University is Utah's land grant institution and a nationally recognized R1 university. We are excited to hire a collaborative, strategic, and innovative leader to serve as the inaugural Deputy Registrar. This newly created role represents a significant investment in the future of the Office of the Registrar and the university's commitment to student success and operational excellence.
 
This is position is a rare opportunity to help shape and define a senior leadership role from the ground up. The Deputy Registrar will closely partner with the Vice Provost and University Registrar to develop vision, structure, office culture, and operational practices that will guide the registrar's function for years to come. The successful candidate will bring a strong expertise in registrar services and a passion for developing people and strengthening teams.
 
The Deputy Registrar will report to the Vice Provost and University Registrar and will provide day-to-day leadership of core records and registration functions. They will serve as a key strategic partner in advancing a modern, responsive, and service oriented registrar's office. As the Registrar's delegate and surrogate when appropriate, the Deputy Registrar will play a central role in operational decision-making and campus collaboration.
 
The Deputy Registrar will promote student success and support academic excellence while ensuring the accuracy, integrity and security of the university's academic records. They will position the Office of the Registrar to meet both current and future institutional needs.
 
Responsibilities
Leadership and Program Oversight
 
* Provide overall direction and strategy for registrar services operations based on institutional goals, student needs, and emerging trends in higher education.
* Provide direct leadership and oversight for assigned functional teams and initiatives.
* Direct a leadership development framework for registrar staff that focuses on coaching and mentoring strategies and cross-training and professional growth opportunities.
* Foster a culture where staff feel empowered, supported, accountable, and encouraged to innovate.
* Model inclusive leadership practices that value diverse perspectives and promote collaboration and trust.
Strategic Planning and Policy Development
 
* Co-develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for the Office of the Registrar aligned with institutional priorities.
* Establish, document, and assess policies, procedures, and service standards to ensure accuracy, integrity, security, compliance, efficiency, and consistency.
* Identify and reduce procedural, policy, or systemic barriers that affect students, faculty, and staff.
* Interpret and advise campus partners on registrar policies and procedures.
