The Educational Assistant (EA) supports and facilitates learning within the classroom at the discretion of the lead classroom teacher. It is expected that the EA is spending a majority of the day engaged with students and the classroom teacher in the teaching/learning process. Primary Responsibilities - Professionally engage with teachers, administrators, students, and parents under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Assure that the culture and focus is on spiritual, academic and social excellence.
- Model a professional focused work ethic and dress.
- Assist the lead teacher with all subjects and their particular lesson plan delivery, including working with individual scholars or the class as a whole.
- Lead small group instruction in both math and reading as directed and supported by the lead teacher.
- Proactively seek to help all students achieve their highest academic potential.
- Be responsible for picking up and leading students to and from the classroom.
- Be responsible for lunch, recess, and other designated duties for the classroom.
- Able to be responsible for academic subjects such as art, music, history, science, PE based on the discretion of the lead teacher and principal.
- Assist the lead teacher with homework, daily corrections, and entering grades into the electronic grade book.
- Assist the lead teacher with any special classroom or school events and field trips.
- Assist the lead teacher with paperwork including copying, faxing, collating and grading.
- Support the teacher in maintaining an environment where school policies are followed completely.
- Participate in all Faculty Collaboration sessions and other meetings or PD as directed by the Principal.
