Electrical Learning Developer

Position Summary

Barts Electric is looking for an Electrical Learning Developer to help build the future of electrical education.

This position is designed for someone in their electrical career who enjoys the trade but also has a strong interest in technology, digital content, design, video, AI, and creative problem-solving.

You do not need to be a journeyman electrician or experienced instructional designer. We're looking for someone who has enough exposure to electrical construction to understand its tools, materials, terminology, and basic installation practices-and who is excited to learn how to turn that knowledge into engaging digital training.

You'll work alongside experienced electricians, subject matter experts, instructors, and curriculum developers to create training used by electricians and apprentices.

What You'll Do

• Build interactive electrical training and digital learning experiences.
• Create presentations, case studies, assessments, graphics, diagrams, videos, and other training content.
• Work with experienced electricians and subject matter experts to capture their knowledge and turn it into effective training.
• Research electrical concepts, equipment, installation methods, and NEC requirements.
• Use established templates and processes to develop apprenticeship and technical training.
• Capture and edit photographs and videos of electrical installations, tools, equipment, and demonstrations.
• Help create real-world scenarios based on situations electricians encounter in the field.
• Assist with Journeyman exam preparation, electrical code, safety, theory, and installation training.
• Learn and use eLearning development software, multimedia tools, AI, and emerging learning technologies.
• Review and improve existing curriculum based on apprentice, instructor, and SME feedback.
• Participate in field visits to capture real-world examples and continue developing electrical knowledge.
• Help explore new ways technology can improve how electricians learn.

What We're Looking For

• Some experience or education in the electrical trade; approximately 1-2 years of field experience is ideal, but not required.
• Basic familiarity with electrical tools, materials, terminology, and construction practices.
• Strong interest and aptitude for computers and technology.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new software.
• Creative problem-solving ability.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in teaching, training, design, or content creation.
• Desire to continue learning the electrical trade.

• Video editing or photography
• Graphic design
• AI tools
• Computers or building PCs
• CAD or 3D modeling
• Programming or web development
• Gaming/modding or other technology-heavy hobbies
• YouTube, social media, or digital content creation
• PowerPoint or other presentation design
• Teaching or helping other apprentices
• Electrical theory or the NEC
• Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe products, Canva, or similar creative software

What You Don't Need

• A Journeyman or Master Electrician license
• Years of advanced electrical experience
• A college degree in education
• Professional instructional-design experience
• Previous LMS or eLearning experience
• Expertise in every electrical system

We'll teach you the development tools and processes. Experienced electricians and subject matter experts will help provide the technical depth.

During your first year, you'll learn to:

• Build professional digital electrical training using 360 Academy's development standards.
• Turn technical information from experienced electricians into engaging learning experiences.
• Create interactive lessons, case studies, graphics, videos, and assessments.
• Research unfamiliar electrical topics and work with SMEs to ensure technical accuracy.
• Become increasingly independent with our curriculum-development technology.
• Continue expanding your electrical knowledge while developing a new professional skill set.
• Help increase the amount and quality of training 360 Academy can produce.
