Job Description

Electro-Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician (IPC J-STD-001)

Step into a hands-on role where your craftsmanship turns schematics into reliable, field-ready hardware. Picture your day: you begin at your bench assembling circuit cards and building test cables from prints and operation sheets. You move on to precision soldering that meets IPC J-STD-001 standards, then calibrate and test subassemblies, troubleshooting issues to root cause and repairing what you find. By afternoon you’re updating IFS with the operations you completed, keeping the Kanban racks accurate, and syncing with Quality, Materials, Planning, Engineering, and Production to keep builds moving. Before you wrap, you review the production board for missing components, provide Planners with parts lists for upcoming system builds, and jump in to cross-train a teammate—because growing the team’s capability is part of the job.

What you will do

  • Assemble, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical systems and components.
  • Build circuit cards and test cables from prints, work instructions, and operation sheets.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints; follow written work instructions precisely.
  • Perform IPC J-STD-001–compliant soldering and rework.
  • Tear down and reinstall complete systems when required.
  • Use hand and power tools, a microscope, and electronic test equipment confidently.
  • Record work status, maintain supply inventories, and keep Kanban racks current.
  • Enter all performed operations into IFS (ERP) for traceability.
  • Collaborate across Quality, Materials, Planning, Engineering, and Production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support 5S/lean efforts.
  • Stay flexible—assist in other areas as needs change and cross-train within the department.
  • Train and document procedures to expand production capabilities.
  • Provide Planners with accurate parts lists for system builds and maintain the production board for missing components/stock supplies.

What you bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical systems and components.
  • Current or prior IPC J-STD-001 certification plus demonstrated ability to solder to that standard.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with approved technical trades training.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Proven ability to read/interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Comfort with microscopes, electronic equipment, and common hand/power tools.
  • Action-oriented with a track record of driving results; meticulous about quality and detail.
  • Clear, professional communicator—both verbally and in writing.
