Electro-Mechanical Controls Engineer

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience integrating or upgrading electrical controls in electro-mechanical equipment.
• Working knowledge of motion control systems, motor drives, digital I/O, analog I/O, and electrical troubleshooting tools.
• Ability to evaluate, select, and integrate commercially available industrial control components within existing mechanical and electrical constraints.
• Experience with industrial automation, legacy control system modernization, and electro-mechanical equipment control architectures.
• Experience replacing custom or legacy electronic controls with standard industrial automation hardware.
• Ability to read and develop wiring diagrams, create technical documentation, and collaborate with software and mechanical engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Teknic motion hardware, integrated motor controllers, Ethernet I/O systems, and electronic valve assemblies.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate existing electrical and control systems, document functionality, and identify commercially available replacement components.
• Replace custom control boards, including main control, valve, axis, and motion-related boards, while preserving the existing machine footprint and mechanical design.
• Integrate motion control devices, motor drives, digital I/O, analog I/O, and related hardware with existing electro-mechanical systems.
• Assess and implement control solutions for axis motors, motion hardware, Ethernet-connected I/O devices, and valve assemblies.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, test, validate, and document upgraded control systems while coordinating hardware interfaces and system testing activities with software engineering personnel.
