Job Description

The Iowa Department of Transportation is an engineering student who wants to gain hands-on experience in the world of construction!

This intern position will be inspecting an interstate reconstruction project. Inspection will include materials testing, performing measurements, tracking daily project activity, coordinating with contractors, and many other duties. This position will report to the I-35 expansion project between Huxley and Ames and will be assisting the lead project inspector. This opportunity will provide students with experience in major highway construction.

Duration: May-August 2027

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Requirements: Completion of at least two years in civil, construction, materials, or transportation engineering, or in an engineering management curriculum at an accredited four-year college or university with eligibility for junior status upon return to school.
