Sodexo Campus Segment is seeking an Executive Chef 2 to join our team at SUNY Oneonta in Oneonta, NY.SUNY Oneonta is a nationally recognized public university serving approximately 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Sodexo has proudly partnered with Oneonta Auxiliary Services (OAS) since 1999, delivering innovative dining experiences and exceptional hospitality.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative culinary leader to oversee food production across a dynamic campus dining program. The Executive Chef 2 will lead culinary operations for two all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, a vibrant retail marketplace, multiple cafés including Starbucks, Dragon Tea, and Seasons Café, a full-service bakery, and a high-volume catering program. The successful candidate will inspire a talented team, drive culinary innovation, maintain exceptional food quality and safety standards, and create an outstanding dining experience for students, faculty, and guests.

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of daily culinary and food production operations for a high-volume campus dining program.
  • Develop creative, student-focused menus while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, food cost controls, production planning, and post-service analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, sanitation, EcoSure, and all federal, state, local, and Sodexo standards.
  • Train, mentor, and develop culinary staff through hands-on coaching and Sodexo Culinary Foundations.
  • Partner with operations leadership to drive innovation, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead a diverse unionized culinary workforce while fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
  • Support catering operations, special events, and campus-wide initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with university partners and maintain Sodexo's longstanding reputation for excellence

What You Bring:
  • Progressive culinary leadership experience in a high-volume food service environment such as higher education, healthcare, hospitality, or corporate dining.
  • Experience leading and developing large culinary teams, including unionized employees preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, sanitation, and quality assurance standards.
  • Expertise in menu development, production planning, inventory management, purchasing, and cost controls.
  • Passion for culinary innovation, sustainability, and creating exceptional guest experiences.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with large-scale catering and retail dining operations is a plus.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
