Job Summary
We are excited to add an experienced Catering Executive Chef to our growing team at the University of Chicago.
Reporting to the Catering Director, the Executive Chef provides strategic and operational leadership for all culinary functions supporting the University of Chicago's off-premise catering business, generating more than $3 million in annual revenue. This role is responsible for overseeing culinary excellence, operational efficiency, financial performance, and client satisfaction while supporting the continued growth of the catering program.
Key responsibilities include leading culinary staffing and development, menu creation and innovation, food production, product cost management, inventory control, purchasing, and food safety compliance. The Executive Chef ensures the successful execution of catered events by maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
Additionally, the role drives operational effectiveness through budget management, cost controls, and process improvements while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the culinary team. The Executive Chef partners closely with internal stakeholders and clients to deliver exceptional catering experiences that enhance customer satisfaction and support business objectives.
