Job Title: Financial Analyst / Pricing Analyst

Position Summary

The Financial Analyst / Pricing Analyst supports the Finance organization by performing financial analysis, developing pricing models, and assisting in the preparation of compliant cost proposals for U.S. Government contracts. This position combines analytical financial responsibilities with government contract pricing and provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in federal proposal pricing while working under the guidance of experienced pricing professionals.

The successful candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proficient in Microsoft Excel. Accuracy, organization, and the ability to work with large data sets are critical to success in this role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Analysis

  • Perform financial analysis to support management decision-making. 
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models using Microsoft Excel. 
  • Analyze financial performance, labor utilization, indirect rates, and project profitability. 
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. 
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for management. 
  • Validate data accuracy and reconcile financial information across multiple systems.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis. 

Government Contract Pricing

  • Assist in the preparation of cost proposals in response to Government Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quote (RFQs), and Requests for Information (RFIs). 
  • Develop pricing models and cost build-ups under the direction of senior pricing personnel. 
  • Ensure proposals comply with customer requirements and applicable regulations including: 
    • Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 
    • Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) 
    • Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), when applicable 
  • Coordinate with Contracts, Program Management, Human Resources, and Operations to obtain proposal inputs.  
  • Support the preparation of pricing narratives, basis of estimate documentation, and supporting schedules. 
  • Review proposal calculations for completeness, consistency, and accuracy. 
  • Assist in maintaining pricing templates, historical databases, and estimating tools. 

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and data integrity. 
  • Prioritize multiple assignments while meeting proposal and reporting deadlines. 
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors. 
  • Support audits and requests for financial or pricing information. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field. 
  • 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, pricing, government contracting, or related analytical roles. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including: 
    • Complex formulas 
    • Pivot Tables 
    • XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH
    • Financial modeling 
    • Data analysis 
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Government contract pricing. 
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). 
  • Experience supporting proposal development for federal agencies. 
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint and Microsoft Power BI. 
  • Experience working with indirect rates, labor categories, and cost estimating.

This description would fit well for a Level II Financial Analyst/Pricing Analyst in most government contracting organizations. It provides room for growth into Senior Pricing Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst, or Proposal Manager roles.
