Job Description

The GRID Support Specialist is responsible for the daily administration, configuration, support, and maintenance of the Gulf Coast Regional Information and Dispatch (GRID) consortiums Motorola PremierOne and Command Central public safety systems, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile, Records Management System (RMS), and related applications.

This position serves as the primary technical resource for consortium agencies by providing Local System Administrator (LSA) support, assisting agencies with system configuration, workflow modifications, user administration, troubleshooting, testing, and software upgrades. The GRID Support Specialist also participates in enterprise projects, software implementations, interfaces, documentation and agency training.

The position works closely with Motorola Solutions, consortium member agencies, third-party vendors, and internal GRID staff to ensure the reliable operation of mission-critical public safety systems supporting more than 90 law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety agencies.

Job Functions

  • Administer Motorola PremierOne and Command Central CAD, Mobile, RMS, and related applications.
  • Manage technical support operations by documenting, prioritizing, and coordinating support requests; escalate issues to Motorola Solutions Support and other vendors as needed; and proactively monitor requests through resolution while providing updates to consortium agencies.
  • Serve as a Local System Administrator (LSA) resource for consortium member agencies by assisting with maintaining local system configurations and implementing best practices.
  • Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and support Mobile Data Computers (MDCs), workstations, peripheral devices, and associated software used by consortium agencies.
  • Coordinate with Motorola Solutions and vendors to implement, provision, test, deploy, and troubleshoot interfaces to third-party applications.
  • Participate in Motorola software implementation and upgrade projects.Perform application testing following software upgrades, hotfixes, and configuration changes.
  • Coordinate software deployments and production releases. Assist consortium agencies with implementation of new features, configuration changes, and operational workflows.
  • Monitor application health, availability, and system performance.
  • Coordinate with League City Information Technology staff, Motorola Support, consortium agencies, and third-party vendors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network connectivity, latency, infrastructure, and system availability issues impacting GRID services.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance activities and planned outages, including communicating maintenance schedules, system impacts, and service restoration updates to GRID consortium agencies.
  • Participate in operational assessments, project planning sessions, stakeholder meetings, and implementation activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with GIS data validation, map updates, and public safety mapping functions supporting CAD and Mobile operations.
  • Assist in conducting recurring GRID System Administrator meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with onboarding new consortium agencies.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Criminal Justice Technology, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting enterprise software applications.
  • Experience administering Windows-based software applications.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.

Supplemental Information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience administering Motorola PremierOne/Command Central CAD, Mobile, RMS.
  • Knowledge of public safety operations, including law enforcement, dispatch, records.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration.
  • Experience supporting CJIS-compliant environments.
  • Experience coordinating software testing and production deployments.
  • Experience supporting public safety interfaces and third-party integrations.
  • Experience creating technical documentation and conducting end-user training.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to consortium member agencies for installations, training, troubleshooting, and project support. This position may require occasional lifting of computer equipment, extended periods of sitting, and participation in an on-call rotation to support 24-hour public safety operations.
