Position/ Department Summary

The Musculoskeletal Digital Innovation and Informatics Program (MDI2) at the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School seeks a Healthcare Data Analyst I to serve as the dedicated data analytics and data management resource supporting the Sports Medicine Research and Translational Innovation (SPORTI) program.

This position will support a growing portfolio of prospective, longitudinal, registry-based, and multicenter research studies. Working closely with investigators, research staff, and biostatisticians, the analyst will leverage MDI2 infrastructure to develop, maintain, and optimize research databases, reporting tools, and data workflows. The role will support data quality, reporting, standardization, analysis-ready datasets, and multicenter studies where SPORTI serves as a Data Coordinating Center (DCC), while helping build scalable research data infrastructure across the SPORTI portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize research databases, reporting systems, dashboards, and analytical tools supporting SPORTI research programs.
  • Collaborate with investigators, coordinators, statisticians, and administrative staff to ensure data systems and reports are accurate, interpretable, and aligned with study objectives.
  • Develop and maintain REDCap projects, data dictionaries, validation rules, database specifications, and related documentation to support standardized data management practices.
  • Perform data validation, quality assurance, discrepancy resolution, and data cleaning activities to ensure data integrity and analysis readiness.
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, visualizations, and study metrics related to enrollment, follow-up completion, data quality, site performance, and research outcomes.
  • Prepare, validate, and document datasets for statistical analysis, abstracts, manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations.
  • Support multicenter studies and registries by coordinating database activities, site onboarding, data harmonization, quality monitoring, discrepancy resolution, and reporting, including studies where SPORTI serves as the Data Coordinating Center.
  • Maintain large research databases and repositories, supporting database standards, key data elements, workflow documentation, and operational continuity across projects and staff transitions.
  • Develop standardized workflows, SOPs, training materials, and best practices that improve consistency, efficiency, and data quality across SPORTI programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Expertise in Python programming is required.
  • Expertise in SQL and database querying is required.
  • Experience in the use of large language models and their applications is required.
  • Experience developing dashboards, visualizations, and automated reporting solutions is required.
  • Experience building scalable data processing pipelines for large healthcare datasets is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NLP or clinical text analysis is preferred.
  • Experience supporting multicenter studies or coordinating-center activities is preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, employee discounts and discounted commuter benefits at certain locations. Experience the benefits of passion and teamwork.
