Job Title: Hospital Pharmacist – Acute Care Pharmacy
Location: Hyannis, MA
Job Type: 26-Week Contract-to-Hire
Shift: Flexible Night Shift

  • Primary Shift: 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Additional Shift: Occasional 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
    Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | Monday–Friday | Every Other Weekend & Holiday

Position Overview

A leading acute care healthcare facility is seeking an experienced and licensed Hospital Pharmacist to join its inpatient pharmacy team. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and effective medication preparation, dispensing, monitoring, and clinical pharmacy support in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hospital pharmacy experience, excellent medication verification skills, and hands-on knowledge of IV admixture, sterile compounding, and clinical pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, dosage appropriateness, compatibility, scheduling, and therapeutic effectiveness
  • Prepare and dispense medications in compliance with federal/state regulations and hospital policies
  • Perform pharmaceutical compounding, including:
    • IV admixtures
    • Sterile preparations
    • Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
    • Other compounded medications
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of medications and pharmaceutical supplies
  • Maintain accurate medication and pharmacy records in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide drug information and clinical consultation to physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff
  • Monitor medication inventory and support pharmacy operations across patient care units
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • Support medication order entry and clinical pharmacy services during evening and overnight shifts
  • Maintain compliance with medication safety standards, quality initiatives, and hospital procedures
  • Deliver professional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare team members

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy program
  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required
  • Strong understanding of hospital pharmacy operations and medication safety standards
  • Experience with medication order verification and clinical pharmacy review
  • Ability to work independently in an overnight hospital setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with pharmacy systems and medication management technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous acute care hospital pharmacy experience
  • Experience with sterile compounding and IV admixture preparation
  • Familiarity with TPN preparation and management
  • Prior evening or overnight hospital pharmacy experience
  • Experience using electronic medication management systems
