Position Overview
The HR Generalist provides comprehensive human resources support across employee relations, performance management, compliance, compensation and total rewards, payroll support, and employee lifecycle processes. This position handles low- to mid-level employee relations matters, maintains compliance training and required postings, supports per diem and uplift administration, assists with payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies, responds to employment-related agency notices, and coordinates employee offboarding activities. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and leaders while ensuring HR processes are administered accurately, consistently, and in alignment with company policies and applicable employment requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Manage and document low- to mid-level employee relations matters, including investigations, performance concerns, policy violations, and workplace issues.
- Support the administration of the performance management process, including performance improvement plans, coaching documentation, and related employee communications.
- Maintain accurate compliance training records and tracking systems to ensure employees complete required training within established deadlines.
- Support the maintenance and distribution of required workplace postings, notices, and compliance-related communications.
- Respond to and coordinate responses for Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) notices and other employment-related agency correspondence.
Compensation & Total Rewards
- Support compensation and total rewards initiatives, including research, analysis, implementation, and ongoing administration as directed.
- Administer and maintain employee per diem and uplift processes, ensuring accurate documentation, approvals, and communication of changes.
- Assist with payroll-related activities, including researching discrepancies, supporting payroll audits, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues.
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Coordinate and support the offboarding process, including exit documentation, system updates, final pay coordination, benefits notifications, and other separation-related activities.
- Ensure employee records and HR systems are accurately updated throughout the employee lifecycle.
Performance Management
- Partner with managers to address employee performance concerns and provide guidance on appropriate coaching, documentation, and corrective action.
- Support the administration of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), ensuring expectations, goals, timelines, and follow-up are clearly documented.
- Assist with the performance review process and provide guidance to managers on setting expectations, delivering feedback, and promoting employee development
HR Project Support
- Lead and support HR projects and initiatives related to process improvement, employee engagement, compliance, and organizational effectiveness in partnership with the HR Manager.
- Partner with HR Manager and cross-functional teams to coordinate project timelines, deliverables, communications, and implementation.
- Analyze current HR processes and identify opportunities for improvement, helping develop and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and the employee experience.
Education and Training
- Bilingual required*
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent preffered
- 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
- Elevated level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Experience supporting employee relations and HR operations.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
