At ELM Management Services, the Human Resources Specialist will assist the HR department in various administrative and operational tasks. This role plays a critical part in the smooth functioning of HR processes by assisting with recruitment, employee onboarding, record maintenance, benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. Essential Functions: - Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, scheduling interviews, conducting initial applicant screenings, and coordinating background checks
- Support new employee onboarding by preparing materials, assisting with orientation, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed
- Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems, including personal information, job details, and benefits information
- Assist in benefits administration, including enrollment, updates, and employee inquiries
- Provide support in employee relations tasks, including responding to routine HR inquiries and escalating issues to the Director of Human Resources or managers as needed
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Help coordinate training and development programs for employees
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding employment and labor laws
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal labor laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO)
Other Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and HR-related documentation
- Collaborate with other departments to provide support on HR-related matters
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Understanding of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and legal compliance
- Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and follow through with resolution
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees and management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines with accuracy
- Skilled in using HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Ability to use discretion and work independently under general supervision
- Ability to understand and adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct
Qualifications & Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Access to reliable internet and telephone services, specifically 10M download and 5M upload packages or higher, as well as a strong WiFi signal from your remote work location
- Must meet pre-employment requirements and maintain all applicable state and job-related guidelines for background screening. Depending on state-specific requirements, this may include drug testing, health screening, CPR/Basic First Aid, and license/credential verifications
