This position reports to the Distillery Manager.Key Performance Areas Include (but Are Not Limited To)Manage security operations and access control, ensure effective control measures are in placePerform and assist with incident investigation and identification of root cause and corrective and preventative measuresCoordinate an effective Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment systemLiaise with Emergency ServicesEnsure compliance and coordinate the Integrated Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk and ISO SystemContribute towards HSE departmental goals and improvements to achieve best practices and standardsCoordinate the site's safety and environmental meetings and standardsResponsible for contractor management and ensuring complianceConducts training, awareness and orientation overviews and induction for staff and visitorsSupports the Food Defence team activitiesEnsure compliance to OSHACT and ISO14001, 45001 and related standardsDetecting, measuring, monitoring and reducing of non-conformancesDrive optimisation and improvement of HSE systems and processes which enhance safety, compliance and reduce risksProvide support and guidance to all staff, visitors and contractors so as to minimise injuries and incidents and non-conforming behaviours.Drives and evaluates the effectiveness of the emergency response plans and loss prevention systemsChampions adherence to relevant HSE Policies, Procedures, Work instructions and SOP's.Active participation in relevant TPM activitiesThe successful candidate must have the following qualifications, experience, skills and attributes:Minimum of Grade 12.SAMTRAC or equivalent qualification/certification.Relevant National Diploma or Degree will be highly advantageous.At least 3 – 5 years' relevant experience.Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and risk control standards i.e. OSH Act; Fire Prevention Standards; COID Act; Municipal & Building regulations; SABS codes; etc.Sound knowledge of H&S; Food Safety; Quality & Environmental Management Systems.Ability to plan, organize, co‑ordinate and facilitate.Strong investigative and initiating skills.Ability to perform risk assessments.Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.Ability to influence management to follow risk management strategies.Networking skills (ability to engage stakeholders effectively).Influencing / motivational skills.Sound Leadership skills.Team player with strong relationship building ability.Own reliable transport essential.Willingness to relocate.The Company's approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
