Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
The position is part of the University's Office of Human Resources, within the Chancellor's Division. The department provides a wide range of customer-focused HR services, including:
These services comply with guidelines from the University of North Carolina system's UNC Policy Manual The Code, the N.C. Office of State Human Resources, and federal and state laws. The department supports nearly 900 benefits-eligible staff, and approximately 300 temporary employees and students.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Human Resources Consultant is to support the department of Facilities Management (Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Construction and Design), by providing overall leadership and management for all human resources/personnel matters. This position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all information, understanding and communicating policies, procedures, and guidelines, and recommending solutions as an extension of the Office of Human Resources.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources (HR) Consultant serves as a strategic human resources partner primarily supporting the Facilities Management department (Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Construction and Design) providing expert-level guidance and operational support across a broad range of HR functions. This position's primary responsibility is to manage training and professional development initiatives, full-cycle recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary processes. The HR Consultant works closely with leaders, supervisors, staff professionals, and the Office of Human Resources (OHR) to advance university and strategic initiatives and uphold the university's commitment to effective people management. This position will serve as an extension of the Office of Human Resources with a primary location in the Facilities Management department and is responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality of all information, communicating policies, procedures, and guidelines, and collaborating directly on all personnel matters with OHR leadership.
