Role Summary
The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator will serve as the operational leader of the HR Department by supporting the effective administration of all HR functions across the employee lifecycle Working under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, this position assists with the development, implementation, and administration of personnel policies, procedures, and HR programs while ensuring consistent, legally compliant, and customer-focused service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Department Operations & Administration
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department.
- Assist the CHRO with implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate departmental workflows and assign work priorities.
- Monitor departmental deadlines and ensure timely completion of HR activities.
- Assist with budget preparation, reporting, and special projects.
Staffing & Workforce Administration
- Collaborate with district leaders to identify staffing needs and coordinate the selection and placement of qualified personnel for all district positions and assignments.
- Oversee the employment application and candidate screening process to ensure efficient, consistent, and legally compliant hiring practices.
- Coordinate and administer the employee transfer process, including reviewing requests, facilitating internal placement decisions, and communicating transfer outcomes in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Ensure all pre-employment requirements are completed prior to employment, including background checks, employment eligibility verification, certification verification, and required documentation.
Employee Services & Operations
- Coordinate personnel transactions throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Maintain employee records and HRIS data.
- Oversee onboarding and separation processes.
- Coordinate employment verifications and personnel documentation.
- Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and supervisors.
Compliance, Policies, and Employee Relations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Coordinate required employment documentation and audits.
- Support employee relations activities and workplace investigations, as assigned.
Compensation, Benefits, Leave & Attendance Administration
- Collaborate with the district's Compensation Specialist in assisting with preparing and reviewing job descriptions, salary surveys, and position reclassification.
- Coordinate employee leave administration.
- Support benefits enrollment and employee education.
- Monitor attendance-related processes.
- Coordinate workers' compensation and unemployment documentation.
- Serve as liaison with benefit providers and third-party administrators.
Other duties as assigned. This position will have no direct supervisory responsibilities.

- Operational Excellence: Human Resources operations, personnel actions, and employee services are coordinated accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with district policies, legal requirements, and established timelines.
- Exceptional Customer Service: Employees, applicants, and supervisors receive responsive, professional, and solutions-oriented support that contributes to a positive employee experience.
- Staffing & Workforce Administration: Employment, transfer, and personnel action processes are administered effectively to support timely staffing decisions and minimize operational disruptions.
- Leadership & Team Effectiveness: Human Resources staff are supported enabling them to achieve departmental goals while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Process Improvement & Strategic Support: Human Resources processes are continuously evaluated and enhanced to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and service delivery while supporting district strategic priorities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including at least three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience within a Human Resources function.
- Experience coordinating multiple Human Resources functions, programs, and projects while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and district policies.
- Experience in a public school district or other public sector organization preferred.

Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment, computers, and related technology.

The role may require occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
Occasional travel to district facilities, meetings, or professional development activities may be required, as well as periodic work outside of normal business hours.
