Human Resources Manager - Hybrid

Door Pro America has partnered with Hueman to find a Human Resources Manager for their Gainesville, VA location. 

As a Human Resources Manager, you will own the full employee lifecycle and keeps us compliant everywhere we operate. The Human Resources Manager will run payroll, recruit and onboard, manage benefits and claims, maintain policies, and bring newly acquired companies into the Door Pro America family. You’ll also help maintain a culture our field crews, warehouse teams and office staff are proud to be part of.

Job Responsibilities: 

•Multi-state compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws across every state we operate in, including wage and hour, leave, pay transparency, posting and new-hire reporting requirements.
•Payroll: Run weekly multi-state payroll accurately and on time, including off-cycle payments, garnishments and state tax setups.
•Payroll journals: Build payroll journal entries and supporting detail for Accounting to post to the general ledger, and reconcile with Accounting as needed.
•Timekeeping: Manage the timekeeping system, ensure accurate time capture for field and office employees, and resolve exceptions before payroll closes.
•Recruiting and hiring: Partner with company managers and leaders to write job ads, source and screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and extend offers.
•Onboarding and offboarding: Own new-hire paperwork, I-9/E-Verify, orientation, equipment and system access, and clean, compliant separations.
•Acquisition integration: Onboard employees of acquired companies — transition payroll and benefits, align policies and handbooks, and make the change smooth for the people involved.
•Workers’ comp and insurance: Manage workers’ compensation and other insurance claims from first report to close, and coordinate annual renewals with brokers and carriers.
•Benefits: Administer benefits and lead open enrollment, serving as the go-to resource for employee questions.
•Policies and handbook: Keep company policies and the employee handbook current, legally sound and consistently applied.
•Culture and employee relations: Build programs that strengthen engagement, recognition and retention; coach managers; and handle employee relations issues fairly and promptly.
•HR records and reporting: Maintain accurate personnel files and HRIS data, and report on headcount, turnover and labor costs.

Qualifications: 

•5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years as an HR Manager or senior generalist owning HR for a company or location.
•Hands-on multi-state payroll experience (Paychex Flex a plus) and comfort preparing payroll journal entries for Accounting.
•Working knowledge of employment law across multiple states, and the judgment to know when to bring in outside counsel.
•Experience managing workers’ compensation claims and benefits/insurance renewals.
•Full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally for hourly, skilled-trade or field-service roles.
•Strong organization and follow-through; you can manage many priorities without dropping details.
•Clear, approachable communicator with installers, warehouse staff and leadership alike.
•Proficiency with HRIS, timekeeping and benefits platforms, and solid Excel skills.

Nice to have: 

•SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
•Experience integrating acquired companies or teams.
•Background in construction, home services, distribution or another field-based industry.
