Description
About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inventory Cost Accountant to join our global finance team. This role will focus on inventory reconciliation across multiple entities and regions, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial reporting for our apparel operations worldwide. You are involved in logistical planning and operational processes. planning, scheduling, organizing and controlling all inventory-related activities. This position reports to the accounting manager and frequently interacts with internal teams, and external partners.
What you'll do
Inventory Reconciliation:
Maintain accurate records of product receipts and shipments, and the movement of products
Monitor system inventory levels at all warehouses; ensure product fulfillment, replenishment and return shipment activities are mirrored in the ERP systems
Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of inventory accounts across multiple entities and warehouses.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory, ERP systems, and general ledger.
Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to validate inventory movements and adjustments.
Multi-Entity Accounting:
Maintain accurate records for intercompany inventory transactions and transfers.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards (US GAAP/IFRS).
Month-End Close & Reporting:
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations related to inventory.
Assist in preparing inventory-related reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
Analyze inventory valuation, obsolescence, and shrinkage trends.
Support management by performing projects and other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Systems & Process Improvement:
Work with IT and finance teams to enhance ERP inventory modules and reporting tools.
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline reconciliation workflows.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of cost accounting experience, with a strong focus on inventory and multi-entity operations.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Full Circle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
Experience in the apparel or retail industry is highly desirable.
Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced global environment.
