Description of Service Opportunity
The CPS SOARS program is a four-week summer learning experience for current grade K-4 students with demonstrated academic need. Each classroom will have one teacher, one paraprofessional, and up to 15 students.
The CPS SOARS teacher under the direction of the CPS SOARS Principal Summer Program Lead and the Executive Director of Academics will be responsible for:
• Providing a fun, safe, theme-based summer learning experience that promotes high expectations for all students. • Facilitating literacy and math instruction using district-provided curriculum, LitCamp, MathCamp, and intervention materials. • Monitoring student progress toward academic goals. • Maintaining regular communication with caregivers, parents, and supporting students during local field trips and special events.
Program Logistics
Dates: May 1-June 30, 2025 Hours: 15 hours of orientation, program planning, and curriculum training. Specific dates will be communicated with job offer. Time: 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. (teacher work day) July Note: There are opportunities for teachers interested in additional hours to facilitate enrichment activities in the afternoon.

Minimum Requirements
CPS SOARS Teachers must have the ability to teach students with a range of learning needs in multi-age classrooms. MA DESE licensure in Early Childhood (pre-K-2), Elementary (1-6), and/or Moderate Disabilities (pre-K-8) is required. Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.
Length of Contract July 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026
Contract Amount Not to exceed $5,750.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
